For Residential Customers
Ohio’s residential customers will receive some special benefits from Ohio Choice.
For example, the rate you currently pay for the delivery (distribution)
of your electricity is frozen through 2007 for Ohio Power
customers and 2008 for Columbus Southern Power customers.
And your rate for generation service from AEP was reduced
5% at the beginning of 2001, and frozen through 2005. Customers
who choose a new generation supplier will pay the amount
charged by that supplier.
The key to the success of Electric Choice for you is that you learn how to shop for electricity. The following pages will provide some shopping tips, including some terms you’ll need to know, a list of suppliers you can shop from, some suggestions for questions you may want to ask a potential supplier and how to switch to a new supplier once you’ve made a shopping decision.
